Ah, the library. As you’ve probably experienced, a school’s library becomes a second home to most students throughout the academic year. In fact, many schools have set up comfortable areas for students to study, write papers, do group work, and even sleep or exercise! With so many different institutions and set ups, we decided to compile a list of the top 5 coolest libraries around the world. These libraries will have you wishing you were studying!

What if your library had a rooftop lounge? Delft University of Technology knows the feeling. The university’s library building is entirely covered in grass, making for a huge quad in which students hang out on and study.

 

University of Manchester, UK

Two words: Sleeping. Pods. Need we say more? The University of Manchester installed sleeping pods for an informal experiment into how napping can optimize the brain’s ability to learn and take in information. If it means power naps while studying for finals, we’re all for it!

Chicago’s Loyola University might actually have the best view out there. With a lake view, glass windows, and a new age digitized facility, this library is our personal favourite study spot from the list.

You have to admit, walk stations are pretty cool. The University of Utah has countless walk/work stations throughout their library facility. For any kinaesthetic learner,  this library setup is a dream come true.

 

Free University of Berlin, Germany

This unique library designed by world-renowned architect Norman Foster is in the shape of a human brain! The library has several open-concept tiers where students can hangout, study, or read.
